GEORGE GRANT
For some time I have been producing work rooted in Scottish landscape and its history, trying to capture a timeless quality, whilst representing the spirit of place. My sources are from locations where people and their land, water and skies, are closely bound together. I am particularly drawn to the times and places associated with Scottish ritual and festival. Photography is important to me, both as source and influence, notably amateur and early images. Recent work has been in the media of acrylic, oil and conte crayon, on supports of wood and paper. I use the natural grain and texture of these materials as integral elements of the image.
