CAROL MEIKLEHAM

Carol loves to paint in Acrylic, Watercolour, Ink Pen and Artist’s Paint. She likes to walk and observe and photograph birds and animals, which she then develops into paintings using memory sketching and photography. Carol enjoys painting the Scottish Seashore in all its moods, using colour, impasto and accidental painterly effects, using brush and the palette knives. Most of her seascapes are painted from memories, impressions and unconscious thoughts of Scottish Seashores, which are finalised and detailed at the end. Sea birds echo wind and sound within her seascapes. She also loves nature, insects and flowers so Carol is a keen gardener, her garden also becomes paintings.

Carol is a mature Graduate, she gained all her qualifications at night school and outreach school, in-between part time work as a shop assistant. She is married and has three grown up children. Carol is an advocate of lifelong learning as she left school at fifteen with no qualifications. She gained ‘O’ Levels ad Highers at night school moving into outreach later, then taster courses, then Higher Psychology, Higher Art and Advanced Higher Art, progressing to HND at Falkirk College. Carol found out she was dyslexic at the age of fifty years. She is a feminist and believe in equality for all. She has culminated her studies within Forth Valley College, gaining a Degree (June 2012) in Art and Design.
