Elaine was born and grew up in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland and after spending a few years living in Cyprus has recently returned to Scotland and rekindled her love of painting. She paints in acrylics on both wooden panels and canvases using a variety of painting techniques to create the texture in her pieces including brushwork, splatter paint, palette knives and scrapers.

Elaine paints both landscapes and seascapes taking inspiration for her colours from sunrises and sunsets, using the colours to create expressive vibrant paintings. Elaine’s artworks are not direct representations of specific places, preferring to try and capture the energy and mood that a scene evokes in her.
Elaine likes to alter the scale of artworks, working sometimes on miniature 15cm square panels, whilst other pieces can be larger than a metre square.

For Elaine it’s all about the energy in a painting no matter what the size.
