Aileen’s abstract designs are mainly inspired by landscapes and coasts around Scotland, and the shapes, marks and textures which have evolved through millennia by the actions of weather and humans.
In the beginning of a piece Aileen paints and draws intuitively using a variety of materials and building up layers of colour, scraping through and sanding back until the design forms naturally. This can take weeks or even months until she sees all parts coming together and leading the way forward to a conclusion.
Prior to painting full time, Aileen worked as a photographer and exhibition display designer.
She is an elected Artist member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and the Paisley Art Institute and exhibits regularly with them an in other exhibitions throughout the UK.
